28 Reasons To Love Country Music!
85Are you a fan of country music? If your response is "no" I hope this article changes your mind. Be open-minded when reading my reasons. Some reasons might not make much sense unless you are familiar with country tunes, but I hope they tempt you to watch some of the videos I posted. You just might enjoy an entire new genre of music and you might thank me one day.
You either like or dislike country music. I suggest you give the country music tunes of today a try. Country music has changed over the years. The old-time fans either aren't pleased with the change or they molded into it. I never had to mold because I feel in awe with modern country artists of today.
I still appreciate the good ole tunes of the past, but I enjoy the hits of the past 15 years more. My journey with being a fan of country music began with Tim McGraw. His songs roped me in. I was in the closet for a few years, but I eventually was brave enough to come out and say "I love country music!"
I have since convinced others to join me on the country music rodeo ride. I never looked back and neither have they. I realized that you could appreciate a multitude of musical tunes and experience a whole new world of musical talents.
If after you read my reasons you feel that I convinced you, please leave a YEE-HAW in the comment section below! For now kick back and enjoy the ride.

I grew up listening to country and my husband still plays the OLD old country music. But I have slowly gotten away from it...to the point that I dont listen to it anymore. Reading your reasons reminds me that there are some great stories to be told by country music artists. My favorite reason to listen to country is that the songs tend to progress from the beginning of a story to the end only to come full circle by the end and back to the beginning. Does that make sense? hahah
YEE-HAW.. WELL I ACTUALLY HAVE BEEN A COUNTRY MUSIC FAN FOR MANY YEARS.. TOO MANY TO EVEN REMEMBER,, WHEN I WAS VERY YOUNG, MY PARENTS ACTUALLY LISTENED TO THE GRAND-OLE-OPRY LIVE ON THE RADIO AND US KIDDOS DID ALSO.. WE LOVED IT.. I KNOW COUNTRY HAS CHANGED OVER THE YEARS SO MANY YOUNGER PEOPLE SUCH AS TOTS TO TEENS TO THE ELDER LOVE IT.. THANKS FOR SHARING ANOTHER GREAT HUB WITH US.. IM A TRUE COUNTRY GAL THROUGH IN THROUGH TO THE BOOTS TO THE HAT TO THE SPURS... AND YES , EVEN THE HORSE, WELL USE TO BE THE HORSE, BUT THAT IS ANOTHER STORY.. JUST THANKS
good sense of humor,.... was ready to look the other way as some one extoled the virtues of teeny bopper hormones that country of late has become,.... thankfully, you didnt do that!
great read!
faith hill is my favorite.. i grew up on country songs.. love your hub. thank you for posting. voted up sweet friend.
debbie
I love your reason number 2!!
I grew up with country music, and I like some of it, but I also dislike a lot. Not too keen on the “My baby left me and my dog’s died and I’m so lonesome,” variety, but I do like that one that starts “Busted flat in Baton Rouge…” Bobby McGee? Can’t remember who sang it though.
Yeehaw.
I love country music, my second favorite. When I lived in Ocala, I saw a lot of country concerts in Tampa at the Amphitheater. A good venue for concerts. Vote up and awesome
Kenny Chesney all the way. I love country music. Voted your hub Funny. I loved it.
YEEE HAAAW!
Love the music & love your hub! I like that you incorporated song titles & lyrics into the reasons! Very clever, Sunshine! ;)
Voted up & awesome, & shared!
I grew up listening to it and then hated it for a number of years. Recently I've become big fans of Jason Aldean, Zac Brown, and Luke Bryan. I love all sorts of music. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Voted up!
Yeahhaw! I dabble in country music because I love Cowboys. Country music has produced some of the hottest men alive. I LOVE Mumford and Sons, Zac Brown, and the classics like Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Reba, George Straight, and Emmylou Harris. I take my hat off to you.. Well done!
How about it just sounds good! Voting this Up and Awesome.
Linda...
Previous to this article my interests extended to Johnny Cash and "Southern" rock bands...of the Lynard Skynard, Outlaws, and Marshal Tucker variety.
It would be cool to sing backwards and find all my stuff though...
Thanks!
Thomas
Have to admit, Linda, that I liked country music better before "Achy Breaky Heart' made the scene. Now I'm much more selective in my choices. :)
100% with you, drbj. This modern stuff isn't country, it's rock sung with a twang. Still, I give this hub a funny vote for combining modern rock/pop "country" music with the stereotypes affiliated with country music 40 years ago.
I need no convincing at all. I like CM very much. I have my favorite artists too. I especially like CM while driving. If it's not a "heartbreaker" song....it's always a happy and lively tune. Keeps me awake and happy! Great Hub SS!! YeeHAW!!
I LOVE COUNTRY MUSIC! Like Brad Paisley says, nobody else (other genres) is willing to talk about cancer or Jesus or honor our guys and gals fighting on the front lines - and, by golly, those are IMPORTANT issues!
As Jason Aldean says, "That's the way she was born and raised, she ain't afraid to stay country." That'd be me! :)
Country music... Which one is it? Is that when someone scraps her fingernails on a chalkboard? Wait! No, that must not be called music. Hmm... Anyways, great hub as always! :)
heck, yeah...i love Country Songs...so natural...great hub Sunshine...
Country music is in my soul. I grew up listening to Reba and even have a video of when i am like two singing YOU LIE! I am a big fan of red dirt country. My Other half loves Texas Rap music and why I love him I just dont understand him. Or the words in the song half the time for that matter. Thanks for the giggle today!
I love country music and this is just too funny and yet too true! Very creative reasons to love Country music as well :-) Awesome job!
Country rocks!!!.....Thanks for the great hub!
This is a great hub, Linda. I just love country music, line dancing and cowboys:) Loved the videos!
Love the 28 reasons. Mostly, I just love country music for the day-to-day pictures of American life the songs portray. Also for how wrecking my 18-wheeler and losing my dog in the same day is a metaphor for life's love lost. It's such a great genre.
That "Red Solo Cup" sure is catchy!
Sunshine,
I love the photo of you at the top of your hub! It's great!
What a fun list you've compiled!
My boyfriend likes to sing country songs while driving in our car, songs he composes on the spot. I'm glad that he forgets the lyrics by the time we reach our destination.
I thought I had read this one...oh well...I agree completely and loved your list of reasons...in the end it's the music that holds me...so honest, so full of meaning and so alive! Great hub!
Even if I live in Finland, I can feel a connection to the country songs. Maybe it's because I grew up in the countryside. I listened to Faith Hill and Garth Brooks in the 90's. During my years in Stockholm I felt like country music didn't fit in my lifestyle. I think I just listened to Shania Twain back then and I saw here live on a concert in Stockholm 2004. When I moved back to Finland and to the countryside I started listening to country music again. Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Billy Currington, Carrie Underwood and many more are great country singers. I love country music and your hub is awesome!
Linda, I love your 28 reasons to love Country music, especially #2 - When sung backwards everything you lost comes back.
Country was my favorites in the '70-'80's, but fell as a priority when I realized it intensified my depression. I still have many favorite C&W songs, but enjoying them quite selectively with songs that can keep me in a positive mood.
With music we can control our moods very successful - it is so much healthier than anti-depressants and all kinds of artificial mood stabilizers.
Voted up and entertaining :)
BTW - You look quite sexy in your country outfit :)
I must admit, I'm not much of a fan, but your cowgirl picture was so cute I had to check out your reasons. : )
Yeehaw! : ) You'll convert me yet.
I've been a fan of country music for many years and have to say that the old timers like Johnny, Dolly and the Statler Brothers are still my favorites. But I do love some of the newer singers on the scene and get a kick out of the fun songs like "Red Solo Cut" that just appeal to everyone. Country songs appeal to just about every emotion from patriotism to love, to revenge to joy...a reflection of life! Thanks for a fun hub!
this is a great article! : )

I think Country music of recent is awesome. Like all genres, they grow and evolve and I think Country has embraced that in the best possible way. Of course there are always old timers who think Country music should stay one way but it wouldn't reflect the changing times or cultural norms as well if it was all like Hank Sr. and Patsy Cline. This gets a big Yee Haw from me!
