A Fan Letter To Farrah Fawcett
80Farrah Leni Fawcett
Gone but never forgotten...
Dear Farrah, You are missed and always will be. Your blissful beauty and radiant smile will forever leave a permanent impression on your fans minds and in their hearts. Your admirable acting abilities will always be viewed and watched in awe. I am thankful for the many gifts you have left us to remember you by.
I wonder how hard your University of Texas quarterback college sweetheart was kicking himself after he informed you that he wanted to date other girls! What was he thinking!?!? Well, you made the best decision for yourself by packing up your things and heading to Hollywood. Modeling agencies were calling for you for years, it was your time to shine! And shine you did! A few weeks after arriving in Tinseltown you met your first husband Lee Majors and the rest is history.
The Burning Bed is my favorite movie of yours. You proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that you weren't just an iconic beauty. You had talent beyond just posing for the camera. Domestic violence is a serious everyday matter and I'm sure you helped many women or men escape their nightmare. I admired your character for her strength and determination. You gotta do what you gotta do. (Disclaimer: I am not suggesting anyone burn their bed or their spouse!)
I along with many others became a fan of yours while watching you on Charlie's Angels. No one could pull off the Jill Munroe character like you did! Even though you only starred for one season your name was forever tied to Charlie's Angels. Cheryl Ladd joined the next season as your sister Kris Munroe and I must admit I developed a girl crush on her but that's another letter.
Many women wanted your hairstyle back in the 70's - 80's. Heck, I still see some women on occasion sporting your stylish coiffed hairdo. You were a pop culture icon! Your famous red swimsuit poster sold up to 10 million copies! It broke a record and was plastered on many boys bedroom walls! I bet my buddy Cogerson probably still has his! Your back to back Playboy magazine issues were the best selling copies of the 90's! If you got it flaunt it, or don't. It's an individuals choice.
Could it possibly be your ancestry genes of Irish, French, English or maybe the Choctaw Native American that made your beauty so unique? I'm thinking there's a good chance of that. You must have been sad when your mother and sister passed away. I could imagine the heartache both you are your father had while missing them. Your dad was the last remaining family member after you passed...he adored his Farrah and followed you a little over a year later.
The day of your passing started out as an very exciting day for me. It was my birthday! I love birthdays! All was well until the early afternoon when the announcement of your passing hit the Twitter news feed. Your fans were informed that your brave, warrior fight with anal cancer had come to an end. I was heartbroken for you yet content knowing you wouldn't be suffering any longer. What a fighter you were, Charlie would have been proud!
Not soon after the media announced your death we were then alerted that Michael Jackson had also died! WHAT?!!?! This is my birthday! Only good things happen on my birthday! Oh well who am I to argue with death. Michael Jackson's announcement overshadowed yours but many people felt the heartache for both of you. Such as your longtime, on and off again companion Ryan O'Neal...he kept your name and memory in the spotlight. By the way he does enjoy that spotlight.
I ended my special day by turning one year older and with the loss of two major celebrity icons. Each birthday since then I always add a touch of Farrah and MJ into my festivities because you are both gone but never forgotten.
You were an magnificent mother to Redmond. If only he would get a grip on his drug issues his life would be much better off. He's a grown man and hopefully he will read this letter one day and know how much his mother who adored him was also adored by her fans.
Ms. Fawcett you touched many people during your stay on earth. You and Tatum O'Neal didn't always see eye to eye but life went on. Some of us just aren't meant to get along. No family is perfect we just do the best we can with what we got.
On a final note I'd like to thank you for creating your cancer documentary regarding your cancer treatments. I understand you didn't intend to create the documentary, it was intended for your journal, but it was just one final gift that you gave us before you garnished your wings. Hopefully your struggle with fighting the dreaded disease could help save someone else's life. Thank you for what you have taught us and what you have given us. Rest in peace angel.

Sunshine....You have honored a lovely lady so beautifully. Very true.....everyone loved Farrah and every young woman wanted to look like her, especially the famous Farrah Hair Style! She was just as sweet as she was gorgeous....and I couldn't agree more about her fabulous portrayal of "Francine" in "The Burning Bed." I remember having read the book and then seeing Farrah in the movie. She blew me away as she proved what a great dramatic actress she was! After that role, she was never again "just another pretty face in Holly wood!" Her struggle with cancer and ultimate death was heartbreaking, but the entire time she was strong and hopeful. Quite an inspiration. Once again Sunshine you have written a touching Memorial.
I'm also glad Farrah made the documentary because I learned of her true elegance, inner beauty and strength.
Yes Farrah was so beautiful and not just a pretty face, The burning bed is also one of my faves, you did a great job with this hub my friend. By the way, I know how you feel about bad things happening on birthdays, mine is April 19th, which is the day of the Oklahoma federal building bombing, also when the tragedy happened in Waco, with that nutcase David Coresh. Oh well i guess we have to live with that. Awesome hub, oh did you know Farrah lived here in CC?? Im not sure if she was born here but I do know she went to HS here:) ge
I remember the day so well when MJ and Farrah died. What a shock that was to lose both of them.
A beauty woman indeed.
Did you happen to see the New Charlies Angels show? I doubt it will be back for a second season. My opinion only, but I thought it sucked.
Fantastic tribute!
Farrah was a beautiful lady! I haven't watched her movies but maybe I should check them out. :) Nice, informative hub!
This was a lovely tribute, Sunshine, to Farrah - a beautiful woman and a talented actress. She had a million dollar smile that lit up the room.
I agree about us CC girls lol, and thanks
Sunshine - I remember that day as well - and I watched Charlies Angels all of the time:) lol I am still waiting to find out who Charlie is! lol
Wonderful letter to remind us of her. I remember all the boys having her poster splashed all over their walls! She was an icon! MJ too:) It was just a horrible coincidence that all happened on your birthday - take it from me - the world is scheduled to end on my birthday next year! Sor - REE! lol
Nice tribute to Farrah...Farrah and I lived together for almost two years back in the 1970s....granted she was a poster on my wall.....but we still shared the same room...lol. I am sorry to say that the poster did not make it....although it would have been very cool if I still had the poster currently.
On a more serious note...it is very tragic that she was taken so early...and yes her cancer documentary is indeed her final gift to us....awesome tribute/letter that I voted up interesting funny and useful.
Sunshine this is a wonderful tribute to a truly beautiful person - her beauty was not only physical but inward. It was so satisfying to see her break the innacurate mould of 'dumb blonde' and prove what a versatile actress and very intelligent lady she was.
Like Marilyn Monroe and Raquel Welch - two stunning beauties also - these ladies taught the world a valuable lesson, that underneath great physical beauty is a person with brains, wit and strength of character that is awesome.
I loved this tribute to this lady who is I'm sure now happy and at peace. Great hub. Voted up + awesome!
Sunshine, this is such a good hub. Farrah lit up the screen like no other with that dazzling smile and beautiful face! Her courage is something that I will remember most about her. We saw glimpses of it in The Burning Bed and later in her real life fight for life. Thank you for this loving tribute to this wonderful woman!
An excellent letter to one of the most famous women to have ever lived. I remember when she posed for Playboy and I was always up for watching Charlie's Angels. Voted up! :)
I always loved Farrah...I was SO very sad when she passed. I felt like I was getting the news about a long lost friend. Such beauty in so many ways - not just physical beauty. Your letter is an awesome tribute to a special woman. Voting UP
Hi Sunshine! Farrah was such a beautiful woman - and not just physically. She always appeared to have a kind heart and concern for others. Great tribute to her. Farrah will always be my favorite angel. Voted up, up and away!
This is a wonderful, heartfelt letter Sunshine. Very well written. I always loved the Burning Bed and felt that Farrah's acting was so good in it. There were many messages in that movie. Now when I hear about Farrah and Michael in June, I can remember your birthday.
Sharyn
I loved Farrah too, she was so good in those TV movies and she should have gone much farther than she did. I can't think of anyone more beautiful or who could act better. I hurt along with her, dying as my sister-in-law did and you want to help and of course you can't. Great tribute.
I always felt for Farrah, that her death didn't get the coverage it deserved. it reminded me of John Ritter. His death was announced, followed a couple hours later by the death of Johnny Cash. great hub. What a looker, that Farrah was :0)
ya, it's crazy, especially when you consider thousands, if not millions of people die each day, and most of them anonymously.
This is a very touching tribute, Sunshine. Farrah left more of a legacy than she will ever know, or ever dreamed of. She's still a legend on the UT campus - and her iconic Charlie's Angel character was the 'look' everyone craved for years (I think she sent hair products through the roof).
But more than that, her grace and sweet spirit when facing a horrible disease was awe inspiring. Thanks for honoring her memory in such a touching way. Voted up and beautiful.
Great hub, nice work. I'm also glad Farrah made the documentary because I learned of her true elegance, inner beauty and strength. And its very important to stay blameless in the hearts of the people.
