How Will You Burn Calories Today?

Something most of us prefer not to think about is burning calories, but we should. This process doesn't have to be torture. It can be fun. Consider it an adventure to discover new and challenging ways to find a way to fit the flab. We all have excuses.
I'm too busy, too tired, still have to finish off that bowl of ice cream...the list is endless. But once you get into a routine and notice a difference in the way your clothes fit that routine will become a way of life. Challenge yourself!
Brush and stretch
You burn calories by simply brushing your teeth. Really you do! Not that many, so how about stretching and tightening your legs while maintaining your pearly whites? Slowly raise onto your tippy toes and slowly lower your feet to a standing position....repeat the process. Go ahead and try it.
Coffee and a lunge
While waiting for your coffee to finish perking how about doing some lunges? Lunges are beneficial for the core area and the legs. Besides the calorie burn (not coffee burn) you will also develop your leg muscles. Start with five lunges per leg and build up to as many as you desire.
Stairs vs Elevator
If you have stairs walk up and down the stairs for a burn. Elevators are the easy way. We all need a good challenge and sometimes easy isn't always a good thing. I avoid the elevator whenever possible and always look for the stairs. Challenge yourself and take two stairs at a time. Stand straight, look forward and march on.
Push Ups
My favorite is push ups. Push ups condition the entire body! Anytime you pass a countertop in your home just DROP and GIVE YOURSELF 20! Yep there is no need to get down on the ground anymore as long as your body is in the correct position these push ups serve their purpose. Feel free to perform this act in public, but you might receive a few quizzical glances from passerbys. This routine can become addictive.
We never forget how to ride a bike ...
Instead of driving how about dusting off your bicycle and taking it out for a spin? With the money you save on gas you can purchase stylish accessories for your new wheels. That cute little bell to warn pedestricians you are approaching or a neat license plate that says "I'm in for burning calories."
ATTENTION!
Correct your posture. Sit straight. Yes YOU! Stop slouching! By sitting straight and tightening your core muscles you are burning calories and strengthening your abs. Instead of drinking a six-pack consider showing yours off one day. Soon.
The Car Wash
It's so easy to just drive over to the local car wash or gas station to wash your vehicle. How about just cleaning your car yourself? All you need is a bucket, hose, cloth for drying, sponge and some soap. Think about the fun you could have! Wear your swimwear (if you are daring enough), blast some summer tunes and dance away as you scrub away the dirt that has accumulated. The calorie burn will surely be beneficial.
Mow the lawn
Let's not forget about lawn care. Someone has to tend to the yard. We could hire a maintenence company to come and do the job. But who gets the calorie burn? No one. Most likely they are sitting on mowers. This is where the pushmower comes in. Not only are you burning calories and getting a decent cardio workout BUT you also get to tan. These are reasons I enjoy mowing the yard plus the power of the mower .... vrrroom!!!
The above are just some suggestions. There are many, many more. Just use your imagination and enjoy the new you!

I can't argue with anything of your advice..all right ones. I just need to get motivated...
I'm going for a walk at 5AM tomorrow morning, and maybe for a jog, and then I'm going to go for a swim at the beach and go home. Though I still can't make up my mind whether to drop by at a cafe and have my breakfast there or to just eat at home... :)

Nice! Voted up and interesting. I did cancel my membership to the gym this summer because I had so much mowing, trimming, and other yard work to do. Then we got 100 degree weather for a month, so there went that idea! I hate to exercise, so finding other ways is good. Lunges are very toning, I've found, but I don't do them either, anymore. How do I get into exercise? Maybe tell myself: Just five minutes a day????? Thanks, Sunshine. I like your hubs.
I've always been big and active.I eat little and do the house work and trim the yard.
I love when it is hot it makes exercising outside much more fun...especially if you have a pool to jump into when you are done....sadly we are almost done with the summer and the pools are about to be shut down again...so sad. great ideas. I work from home several days a week. I try to ride my bike to the store when I can. I also walk around doing 'calf raises' after I've been sitting a lot. It looks a bit silly but is great for you.
I totally move around and dance when i brush my teeth. No lie. I try to move around more at work too. Great advice and interesting ideas to burn those calories. voted up and interesting.

Usually I'm not eat to much calories because I'm using Herbalife products from http://www.nutrienti.eu , but those ideas are very useful for a lot of people which want to control their calories.

I am going for a few dog pulls today. Most people call them walks but with my dog it is a pull. He pulls and I follow.
I got my calorie burn this week by cleaning out my dirty classroom. But these are all great ideas to burn some calories! Dancing is my favorite!
Great hub as usual! I haven't done much lately. It seems like my clothes have been shrinking this summer. I'm loooking forward to a zumba class that starts in a couple of weeks. Zumba is a fun way to work out!
Some great ideas, but being senior citizens with some physical problems, not all of these are possible for us.
I have a bum knee, and cannot 'lunge,' hubby is a heart patient and has debilitating back problems. He cannot run a push mower--besides, we have nearly 3/4 of an acre! A bit too much for our age & condition--even the riding mower bothers his back. The bicycles will probably end up on Craigslist.
Washing the car? We always do it ourselves--no budget for hiring it out; besides, our little car has custom paint graphics--you do NOT put that through an automatic car wash! Hand-touch only!
The one thing I can do, with as much time as I spend here at the computer, is try to remember to sit up straight. I am very guilty of slouching! Thanks for that reminder!
Great ideas. Gardening is a good way to burn calories and tone up, too. Don't think of it as weeding, think of it as doing squats while burning 280 calories an hour!

I walk with my neighbor three times per week. Used to run 2 miles per day...what happened there!? A good motivation is to sign up for a 5K walk/run. My kids and I did one together and it was fun. I will have to get back into the swing of things. I feel sooo much better when I am active. Thanks for the push and great ideas, sunshine:)

after 1 hour hard exercise since last week I have burn my calories also loose my 0.5 kg weight now feeling proud of my self...:)

I've always hated push ups but the counter push ups I can see myself doing quite easily. Great ways to burn extra calories!

I walk to work every day (20 minutes) and home every night and during the holidays I walk along the coast for an hour each morning, other than that, I'm pretty idle! I need to be using my countertops more and using some of your suggestions!
