My Letter to HubPages 30/30 Challenge
91
Dear 30 Hubs in 30 Days HubPages Challenge! This is my final hub, my 30th. I considered taking you on for a few months. I waited for the right time. On January 3, 2012, I decided to roll up my sleeves and I told you to "bring it!"
I planned ahead. I had ideas. I had a couple of hubs pre-written. I was determined to take you on! I didn't expect you to be so demanding and forceful! You could have considered easing up a bit during my challenge. You were brutal! I worked ahead and continued to work ahead. No matter what was going on in my personal life I still went full steam ahead. I couldn't back down now.
I am a woman of my word. When I accepted the challenge I knew I would have to complete it no matter what obstacles might cross my path. I encountered MANY, MANY obstacles in the past 30 days, more then I ever imagined! Yet, I'm a very stubborn woman. I'm also not a quitter. Even though I wish I was at times! You tempted me and dared me to quit many times, but I couldn't. Darn it! I was determined to prove you wrong.
One reason that prevented me from doing the challenge was that I am a strong believer in quality over quantity. I feel my 30 hubs are quality, others might think differently and that's fine. I learned that I won't accept a challenge for awhile. I have a tendency to be hard on myself and obsessed. I had to remind myself to "be here now" on many occasions.
I am thankful for Paula (fpherj48) who read and edited most of my hubs. She pushed aside her busy life to be my support system. I am thankful for Ardie who even though she herself is tackling the 30/30 she still found time to support me and cheer me on. Keep on hubbin' Ardie!
I am thankful for Tammyswallow who was my biggest cheerleader and offered ideas when I was clueless! I am thankful for Alecia Murphy for her many comments and support! I am thankful for drbj for posting a witty comment on each of my hubs. You made me laugh and you gave me strength to move on to my next hub. Gotta get 'er done.
By the way if you are not following these five lovely ladies I highly suggest you do. You will not regret it.
I am thankful for my husband who dealt with my erratic behavior during this time. He was a huge help to me! I am thankful for my daughter who loves to cook! I am thankful for my granddaughter Faith and her adorable friends who helped inspire me. Their comments and actions were priceless when I requested their assistance on a hub or two or three!
I am thankful to ALL my fellow hubbers who stopped by to support and cheer me on! I am thankful for my support from Facebook, Twitter and mostly Google! I achieved over 9,000 views during my 30 day challenge. That alone made the challenge worthwhile.
Do I have any regrets? Not one. I am glad I took on the challenge. I learned a lot about myself. My friends. Hubpages. I learned that it's OK if you don't clean your house every day, week or for a month. I also learned that it's OK to push aside your priorities for a while. Not really, but I'll deal with my punishment as soon as I publish this hub.
Would I recommend others to take you on? Absolutely! A challenge is good for the soul! Incorporate the assistance of your family when they start to feel neglected. You might consider throwing in the towel, try your best not to. Failure will loom over your head.
If you hit a roadblock publish a quick recipe or a haiku! It's OK if you take the easy way out for a hub or two. Using a wall calendar, keep track of your hub titles, dates and how many creations you have left. Once you get to single digits it will be smooth sailing. Kind of. Don't have high expectations, but most importantly remember to come out a winner!
30/30 you were a bit rough at times, but you aren't all that. I've had tougher challenges to hurdle. I suggest you back up a bit and allow other hubbers to have some fun.
Would I do another Hub Challenge? Probably not in this lifetime, but maybe in my next! Excuse me now while I go back to reality. The dust bunnies are calling my name. My pets need to go outdoors to relieve themselves. I also need to catch up with last months bills. The bill collectors have been calling. Uh oh! I bid you a farewell 30/30. It was a memorable ride. I WIN!!! Thank you 30/30 for all that I've learned on our journey.
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

yes!!! TALK ABOUT ENDING WITH A BIG BANG! SS, this is fabulous. I am proud of you and INSPIRED, as well. You are a master at "roping & pulling 'em in!!" Did you ever perform in a rodeo?? When it comes to creating what any good writer should create...you have it down! What a feeling of accomplishment for you.
You are very welcome for my assistance. I truly enjoyed being a small part of your challenge. Your help since I've become a hubber, has been invaluable. Mutual back-scratching, GF, it's the best way to roll!! CONGRATULATIONS. UP & ACROSS THE WHOLE DAMNED BOARD.
Congratulations! You are a WINNER! Good job on this and all of your 30 hubs in 30 days-you're an inspiration!
Congrats on a job well done! Throw yourself a party! You've crossed the finish line! Cue the music! Toss the confetti! :)I admire your dedication to this feat; I don't think I could do it, at least not now. ;)
Voted up and awesome!
Thanks for the shoutout and Congrats Sunshine! I think I might try the challenge soon since it does seem that I do publish a hub a day at times, it won't be too hard. But I will definitely take it on! Congrats again!
Congratulations! Amazing what determination can do. You are an inspiration.
You go girl!
Congratulations to you, Miss Sunshine! What an accomplishment!! Now maybe you should schedule yourself some spa time to relax and enjoy.
You great finish here is a big boast to my challenge. If you can finish it, why not me? congratulation Linda.
Just when I thought you had gone off the deep end writing to chickens and eggs, you go off even farther writing to a challenge! Congratulations on successfully completing the challenge Sunshine! It is grueling and you have earned a little bit of relief. You did great! Take ten minutes off to breathe, let the poor dogs out, pay the bills, and get back to hubbing.
If you name the dust bunnies, they become low maintenance pets.
WOW -- What an accomplishment! Bravo!
You're an inspiration to us all.
Congratulations!
Well that is pretty darn cool! Congratulations and well-done, but then I've come to expect that of you.
Oh SUNSHINE! I am beyond elated for you!!!!! (And thanks for the mention - you're such a sweetie.) Your tips are all the best - I even finally dragged my family into the creation process of my Hubs and would you believe they are MUCH more supportive now?! It was because you mentioned it to me :) Now I will keep this comment short because I know you have a house to clean. How do I know? Because I can see the sad, dirty state my own house is in hahah
Really well done!
YAY! 30 in 30, congrats on getting it completed :)
Congratulations Linda, that is quite an achievement! I also think your reminder to ‘be here now” is great advice for anyone.
CONGRATS AND A JOB WELL DONE!!!! IM SO PROUD TO HAVE YOU AS A FRIEND, YOUR CERTAINLY NOT A QUITTER AND THIS SURE SHOWS IT.. AGAIN CONGRATS MY DEAR FRIEND......
Great Achievement. Well done and congratulations. I know it was hard because I completed the challenge last year. Way to go, keep up with the excellent writing.
Hooray! And you made it with style! Thank you for the kudos but it isn't any thing you wouldn't have done for me. Now it is time to treat yourself to some well deserved rest. You did a fabulous job and saw it through. Hooray for a job well done!
Congratulations Sunshine. I could so relate to what you said, "I am a strong believer in quality over quantity." That was one of the ways 30/30 threw a few punches my way when doing the challenge. But I do come out stronger every time! And apparently, so did you! Congratulations once again on "gettin' 'er done!"
Hi Sunshine, congrats on your success. I like to hear success stories and hard work really matters a lot. Votes up!
Congrats on your achievement, and props to the great friends and family that helped! :) You are an inspiration!!
Congrats. You've got to send this letter somewhere -- maybe to the moderators of HubPages? Voting this Up and Awesome.
Hip, hip, hooray!
Why are you just sitting there smiling? It is a new month. Time for 30 more!
Howdy Sunshine - Are you sure that you did not use your "30-30" to shoot for the target? Good shot!
Gus :-)))
Congrats Sunshine!! It is quite an accomplishment! I cannot imagine writing 30 hubs in 30 days---Really great hubs too!
Congratulations Sunshine on completing your 30/30 awesome acheivement-voted up :)
Great hubs you've written. You did it. Good that you stayed positive doing that. Well done.
Aaaaaaadriiiiiaaaaaaaaaaaan!
Congratulations! You did a fantastic job. You're an inspiration to all of us still plugging away at it!
So, dear Linda, which mountain will you be climbing next? Anyone who can rise to and conquer this 30 in 30 challenge is a special kind of person. But I already knew that. Trust me.
Didja know I received an email from your doggie? Wanted me to tell you he couldn't keep his legs crossed much longer! :)
Thank you for the mention, m'luv. You ARE a love.
Congrats Linda! This is an awesome accomplishment! I know that your success will inspire many others to take the challenge.
Congratulations, Linda! You are the BOMB!! You are a great inspiration. Up to the last hub, excellent!! What great tips for those who go into 30/30. It is a lot of work, but what a wonderful accomplishment. So happy for you. Vote up, across, and sharing!! :-)
Voted up and awesome! Thank you for the inspiration :)
Congrats! That's wonderful. You should be very proud.
Mail me a little of that energy and I may give it a try. Congratulations!
Wooo hoooo ;) Congratulations miss Sunshine!
What an amazing accomplishment! I hope that one day, I too, will be ready to take on this challenge. I definitely have to get over my obsession with "revisiting" my hubs way too many times before clicking on that scary "publish" button. Congratulations!
Congrats! I still gave no courage to start this challenge. This your letter is so inspiring, that maybe some day I will come back to thank you again after I will finish my own challenge. Thank you again, it was very interesting to read.
Nice job! I am still working on my 30/30 and slowing down a bit. I am on day 22 and have 16 hubs published, but a few in the works. I am going to do it...but still not sure what they will all be on. Nice to read your experience. By the way, I was an Avon lady for 7 years...just quit last month. Actually I am just taking a break from it to devote my time to other avenues. I may pick it back up again.
Congratulations, That is some going. You are an inspiration to everyone else.
So proud of you! Well done, Sunshine.
reminds me of my challenge a couple of years ago :)
Congrats....job well done.
Nice Job SunShine,
Great accomplishment one that you should feel proud of. Me not as brave as you yet. Your next challenge should be double 60/30 ouch!
Hi Sunshine, I well know about the 30/30 and did it twice, and a challegne it was. I received a lot out of doing the 30/30. I remember doing the first one during my first year on hubpages. I was thinking of taking on another challegne just to stretch my writing muscle. Voted up!
Congratulations! I myself took on the challenge quite awhile back and didn't last a week. I will attempt it again one day, and I will have a calendar in front of me so I don't lose sight of where I want to be. I admire your persistence and determination...good for you! Voted up and interesting. Once again, congratulations!!!
Great work! I hope one of these days I'll be able to do the same. I only habe to get in the habit of writing and everything will be just fine.
Well done.. Been putting off the challenge for a while now!
Must get stuck into it...
Congrats for you :)
Congrats Sunshine625 ..Well done
Way to go!!! 30 hubs in 30 days is quite an accomplishment!! :)
Congratulations! I have seen notes about this challenge and imagine it is daunting! Kudos to you for completing it andmaintaining your sense of humor.
Congratulations on your victory! Accomplishment is the greatest feeling!
Wow! What a accomplishment.I do not know how you did it(jealous).
Congratulations!
Can you teach me? LOL
I'm taking the challenge right now Sunshine; fourteen in fourteen and suffering from overload but I will not give up.
It was a fun read to see your experience with hubbing over the last 30 days thanks again for sharing.
Congrats on doing 30/30... I've been considering doing this for a while since I have a difficult time getting to hubpages and I have an even harder time hitting publish. Barbergirl keeps telling me to do it so that I can get over my hesitation to publish! I visit here every single day and I would love to get even more involved, but I am not sure if it would be worth it. Thanks to this wonderful hub you gave me some inspirational advice and now I am planning on doing the 30/30 soon! I have to get some more ideas written down on my hub ideas paper and then I will begin! Great great job!
Congrats! I've considered the 30/30 challenge but I'm fairly certain that I'd run out of steam around day 14... I'm so glad that you stuck with it and kept on working until you hit your goal! :)
I take my hat of for you, Sunshine. You have done a great job. I can understand so well why you will not take up another challenge like this in this life time of yours; this is a battle one needs to win only once to prove yourself as a true writer with determination and staying-power.
Voted up and impressive :)
That was a very great read Sunshine625. I am glad you managed to keep up with your challenge. Personally I am considering a series of Hate mail letters to my 100 in 30 challenge! The letter to the chicken and the egg was my favourite :)
Sunshine, congrads on all of your success:) I am glad you are doing so well. I believe it is good to challenge ourselves. Sometimes we can do things we would of never thought.
congrats on completing 30/30. well done... and they were all quality. Also, I love your letters!
Oh Sunshine...you are such an inspiration! This is written so well. I love it. And a huge congratulations to you for comepleting the 30/30 challenge. I've tried twice, but never quite made it. UP and more!
Really Sunshine 625? You wouldn't participate in the 30 in 30 again? I had so much fun doing mine and was so happy when I reached my 30th hub, I am trying to plan out when I can do it again. Then again, I was also thinking I could do some personal hub challenges, like 10 hubs in 10 days periodically throughout the year, and that would keep me motivated. 3 of those throughout 1 year will give me the same amount of completed hubs but maybe won't be quite as stressful being a shorter time period. What do you think about that type of challenge?
I made 15 hubs this February (2012)... 15 hubs in 29 days :)
Sunshine, this is excellent! I love the idea of writing to the challenge itself. Congratulations on finishing and I know what you mean about learning to let other things go for a while. A challenge really is a way to do more than we think we are capable of. Great hub!
Woohoo! I'm thinking about doing a challenge this summer. :) I have no idea, though. I know what it is to crank out a hub a day - it's not easy. Great job on this - great read.
Cngratulations, it's always good to hear that a fellow writer has accomplished a goal they really wanted!
Congrats on completing the challenge! I've thought about doing it, but don't think it'll be happening anytime soon:)
I love this. I want to do it too, but *after* I finish the Apprenticeship -- there's just too much to learn and do. But I'm really impressed by you and other 30/30ers and YOU ROCK! A very inspiring read. Thanks!
