Who wouldn't want to be perfect? Have the perfect body, relationship, career, children etc...in a nutshell, the perfect life. I'm here to inform you that it's probably not possible. Yes, you heard me correctly, perfect doesn't exist. Perfection is a myth that we thrive for but never achieve because it's not reality.
There are flaws in everything and everyone. I understand you are devastated at this point, as I was, when I figured it out. Don't kill the messenger! Who needs perfect? Flaws aren't all that bad. We learn from them. We grow from them. We cry, but we get over it. We learn to accept our flaws and maybe even appreciate them. Without imperfections, I personally think we would be a boring society.
P- Perfection? Who needs it!
E- Everyone is unique and wonderful...defects and all.
R- Rock star status regardless.
F- Flaws are most likely present with everyone. Oh well. It could be worse.
E- Enjoy your imperfections, they're yours and no one else can have them!
C- Carry your head high and let the world know that you're not perfect!
T- Teach others about your flaws and maybe how to improve theirs.
I- I thoroughly appreciate my imperfections.
O- Only you have the power to control your perfections or imperfections.
N- Never deny not being perfect.

Perfect:
1. Lacking nothing essential to the whole; complete of its nature or kind.
2. Being without defect or blemish.
3. Thoroughly skilled or talented in a certain field or area; proficient.
Imperfect:
1. Not perfect.
2. Having defects or blemishes.
3. Skilled but not completely.
Perfect seems like to much work. You need the motivation, drive and falsehood to be perfect. I continue to stand by my belief that perfect is just BORING. If we were all perfect and lived in a perfect world with the perfect surroundings HOW can we improve ourselves? So I suggest we stick to being imperfect and accept our flaws. We can give the perfect world to the perfect people who consider themselves to be perfect until they realize they aren't and join us on the other side. Then we can all live happily ever after swapping ideas on how to improve our flaws and defects.

Who is to say what that is anyway..if we want to strive to be perfect then the heart is the one thing that should be worked on..the outer shell just gets old and wrinkly and we have wasted valuable time for nothing..Wonderful job my friend..enjoyed this so much..

This is a wonderful hub Sunshine! As you say, without imperfection life would be so boring and meaningless. Perfection is for robots, and yet we strive to be perfect! Perfection in humans is more like a mental disorder! I love this hub and your sense of humor:))

Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? God made us all unique with innate abilities but sometimes maybe we all ponder just what the heck is His plan for me.

Just yesterday - one of my students' , "Miss, do you know everything?" - she was actually serious - I laughed and very passionately exclaimed, "No! and I don't want to! I want to be a life long learner. What would I have to live for if I knew everything?" - silence, crickets begin to chirp, I realize I have a class full of pre-teens staring at me with HUGE question marks over their head. Finally a student says, "you're weird" and they continue their work. LOL
AAAAhhhhhhh to be a child again! If I knew then what I know now...

Interesting hub. I like the first definition of perfect. With it everything is perfect, since we are all really part of a great big whole, however perfect or imperfect we may feel.
You're right--perfect would be boring. You have tapped into one of my favorite sayings (made up by yours truly), for use in instances when people are being just a bit too anal and nit-picky: "If you're looking for perfection, you're on the WRONG planet!"

OK, Here is a thought, work with me 'cause my thinking ain't perfect.
God realizing she wasn't perfect, decided to create Billions of Universes with Billions of imperfect beings in them. These imperfect beings only true destiny and purpose was/is to return to the source, however to do this they had to get as close to perfection as possible. Then when all of the imperfect beings (present company excluded, of course) had achieved their perfection and returned, she then would be a little closer to perfection.
She could do this little experiment over and over again until she got it right or just for laughs. Considering the human race she must have a really good sense of humor!

Hey Sunshine, I enjoyed your hub. It reinforces what I said to someone else in the forums at one time. Someone decided to argue with me that perfection was real and not a myth. I tried to explain to them that their thinking was flawed in itself, but they kept telling me I was the one who was wrong. Perfection is nothing more than an idea(concept) which in our duality life has an opposite we know as imperfect.
Yes, each person has flaws and every person would be better off by accepting those flaws. No one is perfect and anyone who thinks they are perfect are just deluding themselves. However, on a different perspective "perfection" can be a reality if you truly want to think about it on a deeper aspect. Example: You can draw a perfect circle or square. It can be done. If you look at the Earth, it's a "perfect" place where life is habitable for human life, because it has all the resources we need to survive. But, perfection with regards to our individual self, we cannot ever achieve it. Great hub! :)

The only similarity life has is this: we are different. The only shame we can bring ourselves is striving to be perfect. What is perfection anyway? The private jets, silk smooth slim body, millions of dollars? I rather be myself, as you said Sunshine, for we're only human :)

This reminds me of a charm my mother gave me---it was a gold Angel with a sign that read 90% Angel, and a little note from her that said--And we will not talk about the 1%. So, even to my mother thought I was not perfect---. And I thought I was---bummer!
