My Fan Letter to Tim McGraw

To "My Old Friend,"
Congratulations on your 20 year anniversary of being a successful country music superstar! I've been a longtime fan of your music for about fifteen years. It's possible that I could have been a fan sooner but I grew up on Long Island, I'm not from "Down On The Farm." Where I grew up there were no "Indian Outlaws" running around with twangy tunes blaring from their boom-boxes. There were very few, if any "Red Ragtops" in my neck of the woods.

It wasn't until I moved to Florida that I began hearing country tunes "Everywhere." I mean that literally. Even my Mom was listening to country and western songs! With her being "My Best Friend" I thought "One of These Days" I'll give it a try. I predicted I'd have to stay in the closet because it was still considered taboo to listen to hillbilly music. Don't take that personal, "Grown Men Don't Cry" it makes people uncomfortable!

You sucked me in the first time I heard "It's Your Love" a duet you performed with your beautiful wife Faith Hill. Wow. I was in awe. "Just to See You Smile" in that video and hear your "Southern Voice" did me in. I thought "Not A Moment Too Soon" could keep me away from spending my "Last Dollar" to buy your cassette. CD's didn't exist yet. I was hoping in my "Next Thirty Years" something would be created that didn't get tangled up in my player and remain "Unbroken." Alas it did!

From that moment on I was chanting "I Like It, I Love it" I want some more of it! After a few months I thought it might be time for me to come out of the closet, but I then I thought "Maybe We Should Just Sleep On It." I made the correct choice for the time being, at least "For A Little While."

I have learned lessons from your music and I'm thankful for that. You've taught me that it's not healthy to be "Angry All The Time." So if I'm feeling a bit annoyed I simply step outdoors and "Watch The Wind Blow By." Storms relax me, listening to the majestic sounds of nature I think to myself "She's My Kind Of Rain!"

Tim I think you're a "Real Good Man" as a music artist and actor, but more importantly as a husband and father. I hear you speak of "My Little Girls" and I can see the sparkle in your eyes for your wife and daughters. You spoke of your daughters dating in the future and I could hear you saying NO "Don't Take The Girl!!" As a mom of two married daughters I often think NO they "Can't Really Be Gone," but they do grow up and move on. We don't want to "Let It Go" but we have no other choice. It's bittersweet but you remind them to "Please Remember Me" and they will. A wise man once said, Ya Gotta Believe and I tend to agree with him.

"If You're Reading This" I hope you realized how much you influenced my life. "I Need You" to know that I also believe we should "Live Like We Were Dying." It's not gonna kill us if every once in a while when asked "Do You Want Fries With That?" we say YES and SUPER-SIZE IT! Have a vanilla shake with it also because we have all said WOW that "Felt Good On My Lips!!"

I've learned that "Where The Green Grass Grows" is where ever your heart is. It's the "Cowboy In Me" that makes me realize "Some Things Never Change" and no matter what cards we are dealt, life still goes on. We all have "Refried Dreams" which can be confusing but "All I Want Is a Life" filled with country music songs! On a sunshine filled day "When The Stars Go Blue" I'll be listening to your tunes and thanking you for sharing your gift with your fans. I've always said that "She Never Lets It Go to Her Heart" but I allowed it to happen the moment I got sucked in! I salute you for 15 years of country music fun!!!
