We Spend Too Much Time Chasing Balls!
68Assorted balls to chase....
She shoots....she scores!!
Balls even come in edible treats.....
Please return to rightful owner....
Have you truly ever considered how much time we spend chasing balls? I'm referring to sports balls. My apologies if you feel you were misled but this is a serious matter! When the first ball was produced did the creator consider this issue? Did the creator think, hmmmm maybe I should attach something to the balls so that they come right back to the owner or should they just be chased?
From the time we are toddlers until adulthood we are all constantly chasing balls. How did this happen? How did we allow balls of assorted shapes and sizes to consume our time by having us constantly running after them. Whether trying to hit them, grab them, shoot them, bounce them, kick them they always have our attention and we keep coming back for more. Are we going to allow ourselves to be tortured by them? We probably are because as sports fanatics we enjoy the thrill of the game. How many of us swear at the balls because they didn't do what was required of them and we had to sprint after them once again.
Why can't there be an easier way? Did you ever stop and consider how many hours you've spent trying to retrieve a ball? Depending on your age and the time you have spent playing with balls that could add up to a hefty amount of time. Did you ever consider the other things you could have accomplished during this period. Does the satisfaction of chasing and retrieving the balls outweigh the wasted time? It doesn't matter which sport you play those balls have the upper hand. Whether you're a lefty or a righty they demand your attention and they always win!
Whether we are rookies or professionals when we play we like to be good but prefer to be the best! I for one enjoy it more when the balls do as I command and I don't have to run all over the place chasing it. How many of us have literally stared at the balls while they were in motion and prayed or hoped for them to do the right thing? When it did we CHEERED, when it didn't we BOOED! It's really not the balls fault but we blame them anyway, we yell at them like they actually understand us!
I feel for balls. We expect so much from them. They are our best friends until they fail us and then we detest them. If they were just a bit more consistent the relationship would be so much more fulfilling. Balls bring us countless hours of pleasure. When I think of the countless times I've spent chasing them I truly don't mind but I still think there must be a better way to control them.
Maybe if we attach a cord to balls so whenever we need them retrieved we just yank the cord and presto they're back in our hands. I understand that would cut out some of the beneficial cardio exercise from the game, which we could all use, but oh well. As long as we use less time chasing and more time actually participating the problem would be solved.
Supposedly practice makes perfect, I guess I just need more practicing and to stop focusing on perfection. I mean it is just a game and it's all about having fun, right? So let the games begin and we'll keep on chasing until someone creates a better plan for us. In the meanwhile I'll just keep on having fun and shouting it's going, going, it's GONE!!

Not to mention the balls that our four legged friends seem to LOVE to chase...and retrieve...and slobber over...and chew to bits...and in the end, as in my case, get laid to rest with....her favourite ball in her little arms, never to be played with again :'(
As usual Sunshine a beautifully written piece. Always good to read your hubs. Thank you :-)
Well, that's life. No ball chasing, life becomes dull.
Very well done Sunshine.....lots of funny videos you have collected. I think the fascination with balls comes early....our just turned 2 year old does not know many words yet.....but ball was mastered months ago....very funny and interesting hub....great job
Funny stuff, I love the video. Chasing balls is definately a big chunck of peoples lifes.

A sincere and warm wish for your continued health and happiness into the new year and thank you for all that you do for 'us' here at hub hoppers - it is most appreciated!
i've got big balls, he;s got big balls, she's got big balls...but we've got the biggest balls of them all.
I must say, my dog loves, loves, loves balls! She doesn't always bring the balls back--so I get to retrieve them!
Super Hub! Loved the videos and enjoyed a wonderful belly laugh or two. This all confirms my humble opinion: balls are highly overrated. :)
I was never a big fan of balls. Rated up!
Creative and interesting! My initial love for my big, shiny, red ball turned into hurt because whenever I bent over to pick it up, my side hurt. It was appendicitis, not the ball, but how was I to know? I was only four.
FUn Hub Sunshine, I like the tennis balls as Tennis is my game of choice involving balls and the dogs love them...oh yes and a soft ball..the hard ones hurt..lol Thanks for sharing..
Sunnie
I think this just goes to show you that we all love to play!
I love these points! I've often thought the same thing - thanks for the fun read!
Great read, and yes you asked for it! (see facebook remark!)
